Student Spotlight: Mohammed Ali
Mohammed Ali is a junior in the ISE Department this year. Outside of classes, he is involved in the Presidential Innovation Scholars Executive Board and Multicultural Academic Opportunities Program. Mohammed has studied abroad in Italy, Switzerland, and Germany, as part of the Rising Sophomore Abroad Program.
Mohammed has had work experience as an IT intern for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and as a tech consultant for the start-up firm TechOpp Consulting.
Mohammed is a co-founder of his own start-up, iDecorWalls, which focuses on manufacturing modern Arabic art. He enjoys working in a start-up culture and learning about entrepreneurship. He is also the anchor on Virginia Tech Television, where he has his own TV show “Tech Corner with Mohammed Ali."
In his free time, Mohammed enjoys working on personal projects, such as 3D printing a virtual reality headset, and creating a soda machine.
Mohammed has been the recipient of the following awards: 1st for the Diversity Case Competition at VT, 2nd for the Grant Thornton Innovation Challenge (state level), and 2nd for Sales Presentation at Entrepreneurship on Invention (state level). Impressive, Mohammed is a motivated student and a unique part of ISE at VT.
