ISE Alumnus Kirk Spitzer inducted into VT Academy of Engineering Excellence
Virginia Tech College of Engineering inducted Kirk Spitzer as one of six new members into the Academy of Engineering Excellence in May 2016. Mr. Spitzer is a member of the ISE Class of 1967, Virginia Tech’s Ut Prosim Society, and a former member of the ISE Advisory Board. He was the 21st ISE alumni member to be inducted into the Academy of Engineering Excellence.

ISE Alumnus C. Richard Cassady won IISE Distinguished Educator Award
ISE Alumnus and a current ISE Advisory Board member Dr. C. Richard Cassady was selected to receive the Albert G. Holzman Distinguished Educator Award from the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE) at the annual conference in May 2016. This is one of the highest honors given by IISE, and it recognizes educators who contributed significantly to the profession through teaching, research and publications, extension, innovation, or administration. Dr. Cassady is a Professor in the Department of Industrial Engineering and Director of the Freshman Engineering Program at the University of Arkansas. He has been a member of the Virginia Tech ISE Advisory Board since fall 2015. He holds a BS summa cum laude, an MS, and a PhD, all in Industrial and Systems Engineering from VT.

ISE Alumna Linda Wood honored with "Movers and Thinkers" Award
Ms. Linda Wood, a current ISE Advisory Board members, was honored with a “Movers and Thinkers” Award at the annual conference of the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals in September 2016. The Movers and Thinkers awards are presented annually to recognize exceptional individuals who have significantly influenced the advancement of supply chain management as a critical business strategy, leading the field in thinking and practices. The industry-wide award was established in 2009 by DSC Logistics, one of the nation’s leading supply chain management companies. “Linda Wood never fails to inspire, to educate and to elevate,” said Ann Drake, Chairman & CEO of DSC Logistics. “In every role she’s held, we’ve seen her commitment to developing people in her own organization and in others. Her commitment to the advancement of women’s leadership in the supply chain field has accelerated progress and thinking.” Ms. Wood joined R. J. Reynolds Tabacco Company in 1981 and most recently served as Vice President – Operations. She holds a B.S. degree in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from Virginia Tech. She has been a member of the ISE Advisory Board since 2012.
