The Virginia Tech chapter of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society (HFES) participated in Kids Tech University this spring. This event allows engineering and technology related organizations to host booths with hands-on activities that will inspire kids to get more involved in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). At the HFES booth, we had fun with safety and interactive technologies. We played a Where's Waldo-type game to identify serious hazards and dangers in the working environment. We had kids interact with the LEAP motion capture technology through different puzzles and games. Lastly, kids were able to have fun experiencing virtual reality with our Google Cardboard viewer.
