(April 26, 2018) Dick Arnold, an ISE alumnus, is the recipient of the 2018 Citizen of the Year Award from the Christiansburg-Blacksburg Rotary Club.
Dick graduated from ISE, then known as Industrial Engineering at Virginia Tech in 1956. After finishing at Virginia Tech, he worked approximately 30 years at Union Carbide Corp., and then 12 years at Allied Signal. He returned to Blacksburg upon retirement and served in various volunteer organizations. He was a co-founder and is currently the president of the board of New River Valley Leading Lights, an organization created to celebrate the spirit of volunteerism in the community following the shootings on campus on April 16, 2007.
Dick was inducted into the ISE Academy of Distinguished Alumni in 1999, as well as the College of Engineering Academy of Engineering Excellence in 2010. He was also a former ISE Advisory Board member.
