      • Dr. Rao Kannan receives James E. Long Post Doctoral Fellowship from INCOSE

        (July 2018) Postdoctoral Research Associate Dr. Hanumanthrao “Rao” Kannan was awarded with the James E. Long Memorial Post Doctoral Fellowship from International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE). According to the INCOSE Post Doctoral Fellowship page, the award was established in order to “support post-doctoral research that has potential to advance the state of the art in systems thinking or the systems perspective.”

      • ISE Academy of Distinguished Alumni honors seven new inductees

        (June 29, 2018) The ISE Department announced the following seven people as the 2018 inductees into the Academy of Distinguished Alumni: Dr. Pius Egbelu, Dr. Olivier Girod, Col. Dan Gower, Mr. Garland Hagen, Dr. Suvrajeet Sen, Dr. Marilyn Smith, Dr. Raymond Staats. They were honored at the ISE Academy of Distinguished Alumni banquet in April 2018.

      • Dr. Blake Johnson receives ICAT SEAD grant, CoE and SEC awards

        (June 18, 2018) Dr. Blake Johnson earned multiple awards as well as a grant in spring 2018: College of Engineering Dean’s Awards for Excellence Outstanding New Assistant Professor award, College of Engineering Student Engineers’ Council (SEC) Undergraduate Research Advisor Award, and ICAT SEAD grant for the project with printed prosthetics.

      • Dr. Don Taylor honored with IISE Albert G. Holzman Distinguished Educator Award

        (June 1, 2018) Charles O. Gordon Professor Dr. Don Taylor is the recipient of the 2018 Albert G. Holzman Award from the Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE) for significant contributions to the industrial engineering profession by an outstanding educator. The Holzman award is one of the highest honors given to a member of the IISE who has contributed significantly to the profession through research, publication, extension, administration and teaching innovation in the academic environment. In additions, he has exhibited a rare trait of superbly leading not only his research and scholarly work, but also, a department, a college, a professional organization, and now, a university in intellectual and educational pursuits.

        (May 29, 2018) The winning teams of the Senior Design Awards were announced during the Senior Symposium reception. Team 40 (Matthew Boys, Rachel Carie, Kunal Gandhi) for Project Management and People's Choice awards; Team 23 (Shiv Balodi, Chelsea Galara, Daniel Safewright, Ahmed Salih) for Applications of ISE Methods & Tools award; Team 18 (Paul Hayes, Dylan Sackadorf, Micah Schumaker, Lauren Schwartz) for Innovation and Creativity award; Team 20 (Charlie Bushrow, Erik Dietrich, Colleen Ferlotti, Sam Swanson) for Performance Impact award.

        (May 24, 2018) Dr. Don Taylor was honored with the Albert G. Holzman Distinguished Educator Award; Dr. Blake Johnson received the Young Investigator Award from the Manufacturing & Design division; Dr. James Kong earned the IISE Transactions Quality & Reliability Engineering Best Paper award; Class of 2018 graduate Mary Buckingham received the James Barany Award for Excellence; Class of 2018 graduate Dylan Burnette won 2nd place at the Undergraduate Student Technical Paper Competition; IISE scholarship or fellowship was given to Chenang Liu, Neal Roberts, Julie, Mohl, Matthew Anama.
