The New York Times article discusses challenges of academic job market for PhD graduates referring to a previous systems analysis done by Richard Larson (MIT), Navid Ghaffarzadegan (VT), and Yi Xue (MIT) on estimating growth in PhD population in the United States. The original paper was published in the journal of Systems Research and Behavioral Science.
