The Grado Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering is among the world's leading ISE departments in research, education, and professional outreach, but we are not yet as good as we would like to be. The Commonwealth of Virginia is generous with us, but as many of you already know, the funds that they provide are simply not adequate to cover the expenses associated with running a world class operation. Thus, we depend upon the generosity of our friends and alumni to support our mission of leadership and continuous improvement. Giving to ISE at Virginia Tech can provide student scholarships, it can support our undergraduate and graduate teaching missions, and it can enable us to offer courses in important emerging areas within ISE. Your giving can also help us to maintain state-of-the-art research facilities and to develop new laboratories to support exciting new research areas. It also helps us to attract and retain the world's best faculty members. Finally, your giving can provide vital operating funds to help us with our day-to-day activities. In short, your giving helps us to remain competitive with other top-10 departments and it is vital to our success.
There are a number of ways you can give to the ISE department. Although gifts can be designated to any area of the university, your gift must be specifically designated for the ISE department if you want your gift to support us directly. You can make a pledge, make a payment on an existing pledge, make a gift using your credit card, or request information on donating securities, making a planned gift or using electronic funds transfer from your checking account using the secure online pledge form. Be sure to select "Other Designation" and indicate "ISE" along with any other specific use information you desire. If you are affiliated with a company that matches contributions to higher education, your gift to Virginia Tech may be matched by your employer. Please check with your human resource department or personnel office to see if this option is available to you.
