Biography

Charles G. O'Brien retired as Executive Vice President of Thomasville Furniture Industries in 1993. Thomasville Furniture is a nationally known producer of household and hospitality furniture and in 1993 had 26 manufacturing plants in North Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee and Mississippi. Charles began his work career as Management Trainee in Armstrong World Industries' Pensacola, Florida plant. Working in plant assignments in Florida, Georgia and New York, he moved through positions of Foreman, General Foreman, Superintendent, Assistant Plant Manager and Plant Manager. In 1976 he accepted the position of Vice President and General Manager of Manufacturing for Thomasville Furniture. With Thomasville Furniture, Charles held the positions of Vice President, General Vice President and Executive Vice President.
