International Programs

ISE has a long history of international programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels and between its faculty and external partners. One example is the over 10 year partnership with Ecole des Mines de Nantes in France. Each year, several capstone design teams collaborate with teams from France. In addition to meeting "virtually" through electronic means, teams collocate and work face-to-face for an intensive week of engineering design and cultural understanding. At the graduate level, the International dual MS degree was the first of its kind at the University. Through this international program, students receive both a Virginia Tech graduate degree and the Diplôme de Formation Spécialisée. This year, undergraduate students also collaborated with students in Mexico and the United Kingdom. The number of countries and opportunities for international collaboration is ever expanding.
