Graduate Student, Brian Mayer, participates in two big Adventure Races

Endorphin Fix is a 3.5 day race, the longest Adventure Race on the East Coast. It was held just an hour away in Pipestem, WV. The race included over 200 miles of Mountain Biking and over 300 miles and 80,000 ft of elevation change split between biking, trekking, paddling, and rappelling. The race took 80 hours and Brian’s team finished 5th overall. He also participated in the Collegiate Adventure Race National Championships in Austin, TX. Brian finished first in the collegiate division claiming the Collegiate Adventure Race National Championship Crown. His team’s time was 1 hour 59 minutes and 21 seconds beating the next team by over 45 minutes. For winning, they received sponsorships from Merrell, Native Eyewear, and Suunto as well as a $3000 sponsorship from the AIX Group. The race was also held as the Sprint Adventure Race National Championships and was open to any team in the nation.
